Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch is a concentrated, water-reducible phosphoric acid and detergent blend formulated to both clean and profile concrete, masonry, steel, galvanized and zinc surfaces before applying a coating, stain or sealer. F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch is a concentrate to be diluted with water and can be used both cold and heated cleaning processes.
Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch is a clear, odorless, non-flammable, non-combustible, non-hazardous acid cleaner that can be used in areas with limited ventilation.
Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch is an acid based cleaner and must be used with all plastic hand pumps, tank-type sprayers, and plastic lined dip tanks, pressure washers with an acid injector system, plastic pails and acid resistant brushes. Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch was Developed for Use On:
Steel:Removes rust and flash rust from steel surfaces and leaves a corrosion inhibiting residue which prevents rusting and aids in coating adhesion.
Galvanized: Improves the adhesion by removing the passivation film on the surface.
Concrete:Cleans and degreases concrete surfaces to prepare the surface for paint, sealer, or other coatings while reducing preparation time by eliminating the separate pre-cleaning and rinsing operation before acid etching on concrete.
Masonry, Brick: Cleans mortar joints, removes excess mortar and easily rinses with water to eliminate any residue, from the surface and without causing any harm to the surrounding vegetation. Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch Removing Rust from Steel Surfaces:
Light: 10%Medium: 15%Heavy: 25% Dilutions: (12 oz. /gal.)(20 oz. /gal.)(43 oz. /gal.)
Directions for Brush or Spray:
1.Determine dilution required. 2.Add concentrate to water and mix. If available hot water will accelerate cleaning and etching. 3.Brush or Spray solution onto steel surfaces. 4.Allow 1-10 minute contact time. 5.Rinse surface withhot water. 6.Heavily rusted parts may require scrubbing while rinsing. 7.Dry surface immediately by wiping with a clean dry cloth or using forced air.
Direct for Use in a Cold or Heated Dip Tank:
1.For Cold Dip Tank:Fill bath with 1 part water to 1 part Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch solution. 2.For Heated Dip Tank: Fill the bath with 10 parts water to 1 part Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover 3.Immerse the steel items to be de-rusted into the solution. 4.Allow to remain in solution 5-20 minutes 5.Check at 5 minute intervals to determine if the rust is removed. 6.Heavily rusted parts may require scrubbing during the 5 minute inspections to remove the top layer of rust reducing the amount of time the parts are in the immersion tanks. 7.Rinse Surface with hot or cold water. 8.Dry Surface immediately by wiping with a clean dry cloth or using forced air. Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid Etch Direction for use on Shiny Galvanized:
1.Spray 2 parts water to 1 part Hurrisafe F-10 solution onto surface. 2.Allow 5 - 10 minutes contact time, 3.Rinse thoroughly with hot or cold water 4. Dry surface immediately by wiping with a clean dry cloth or using forced air. Direction for Concrete Cleaning:
Dilutions:Light: 25%Medium: 33%Heavy: 50% Dilutions: (32 oz. /gal.)(43 oz. /gal.)(64 oz. /gal.)
Add concentrate to water and mix. If available hot water will accelerate cleaning and etching.
Sweep loose debris. Dampen surface with water.
Apply solution to a 10' x 10' section so that a uniform film of the solution covers the area. Note: If no bubbling occurs, a coating, sealer or curing compound is preventing solution contact with the concrete. Remove before reapplication.
Allow 5 minutes contact time and scrub with a broom or brush until the bubbling stops
Triple rinse with water and scrub while rinsing.
Allow surface to dry thoroughly and check the pH of the surface with pH indicator. If the pH is below 7.0, repeat steps 5 and 6. Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-Acid EtchCalculate Amount of Mixed Solution Required Based on Square Feet of Area to Be Cleaned: To determine how much solution will be needed for the area to be cleaned multiply the length X with to determine the total square footage.(L____X W_____=Total Square Feet________) Example:20,000 square feet of heavy duty cleaning will require 50 gallons of diluted Hurrisafe F-10 Rust Remover-N-acid Etch made up of 17 gallons of Hurrisafe to 33 gallons of water For rough, porous or corrugated surfaces, multiply gallons required by X 1.2. (50 gal X 1.2= 60 gallons of mixed solution required to clean 20,000 square feet of surface. For high pressure spray application multiply gallons X 1.3. (50 X 1.3= 65 gallons of mixed solution required to clean 20, 000 square feet of surface. As a general rule the chart below will help to determine the amount of diluted gallons required to clean a flat smooth surface using a low pressure spray applicator.Determine if light, medium or heavy duty cleaning is required.Find the Square Feet of Coverage closest to the total surface to be cleaned.
